The Social Media Relationships

Have you ever talked with the boy/girl so much enthusiastically over online?
That heartbeat while typing those messages
The fluttery feeling kicking in
The butterflies in the belly

We meet somewhere, someplace; approach them virtually and it declares us as friends and followers. The level of awkwardness gets hidden behind the layers of the internet, giving the sensation of empowered. Social Media is the place where your expression gets viewers and your presence will be felt.  The statistics behind view count, likes, comments all conspiring to create the solar system revolving around you. You feel empowered and that’s what the human psyche is built upon. The quest for fulfilling is gracefully handled subconsciously.

There are millions of neurons making multiple coherence synapses at a time aiding decision making. The slightest of electrical impulse carries immense behavioral actions. The urge is from inside, you can type the words as the thoughts go by unfiltered, raw. Grasping what it is actually via five senses becomes insufficient in dissecting the fabricated mental projections. Thus, looking at the conversation from years ago gives some sort of dumbness. Leading us how meaningless, how unproductive, yet felt full of life.

As stated by Descartes in his mind-body problem, our mind deceives us, makes us believe the things our mind wants to see. The faculties of mind taking the charge in deciding what we are actually seeing. Many times when we track back our actions we can find it, the breadcrumbs left are those very flashes of electricity in the neurons. The same chat where you were clouded by the reason that you want to express, not realizing there is another human being on the other side of the network, with similar anatomical neurons.

The pre-stored knowledge gets refreshed, the neurons code that previously programmed compiles once again. Thus the phrase ‘I speak my mind’ comes along. The mind gives the answer that you want to hear, guide the atmosphere the way that you want to feel. Does it necessarily mean the other side of the person is really in the wavelength that you are tuning to? And in comes the cycle of frustration, triggered by the lack of findings that you were expecting.

Disappointment comes when you get less than what you expected.  In modern-day relation, especially in the country like ours, with socio-cultural boundaries, the expectation and imagination are high. Thus, the tendencies to prefer virtual connections are natural. As a popular hearsay “Love is what makes the life sustain and tragedy is what transcends the music industry.” The beauty with social media is that it comes with complete package fueling tempered reactions to enriching experience.

In the current era where we live, where our internet browsing is tracked, our every activity are recorded, it will judge you and give the feeds that you are more likely to respond. Personalized internet browsing, personalized news feeds. We are leaving our digital footprints knowingly and unknowingly. Becoming aware of how to use it, understanding its importance, has to be one of the important things in this digital era.
